Great Flying Spaghetti Monster, Batman!
Sep. 12th, 2007 02:04 pmGrr, I'm having one of those days where I just want to be left the hell alone. You'd think my steely demeanor and polite requests that people leave me in peace, followed by far less polite requests would be enough for people to get the hint that I'm not in a people friendly mood today. I'm not even in a mood where I can tolerate the people I actually like for very long, although I'll be much nicer about telling them to go away.
So, yes, Ronnie it was a bad time to come and ask me if you could work that Wednesday night shift in my lab. It was also a bad time to tell me about the problems you're having in math class and to try to pick my brain about studying overseas. It was a really bad time to tell me about the problems you're having at work and how if you're "late to one more shift you'll lose your job." I don't care. I do not like you when I'm okay with the presence of other people around me. I thought you'd clued in on that. May the people of Spain, or possibly of the Netherlands, have their joy of you.
Oh, and Dr. Sexton please stop referring to yourself in the third person. It's annoying. Everything you've ever written (especially the stuff that's not yet published) shouldn't be required reading, and if you wanted to make it required reading you should have done so when your ordered books for the class. I don't care if you say it's optional, if it appears on the damn test it's not. Also, you did not write the Mayan Folktales that you are so proud of talking about. You collected and compiled them. You wrote the introduction. Yes, there is a huge difference.
Also, if you're going to use your coursepack as an excuse not to use the bloody blackboard make sure all those names you're so fond of dropping are in the damn thing. The first time I'm seeing them in print shouldn't be on the study guide.
Please quit downplaying your fellow professors. I've taken classes with both of the Cunninghams and enjoyed them. Partially because they weren't pretentious fuckwits who acted like all the material they had collected should be attributed to them and not the culture/people where it came from. For an idea of how to conduct a folklore class like a professor and not a three-year old please see ENG380 and 381.
Rage, and the strong desire to kick you in the shins-
Me
